Established in February of 2011, under the direction of Professors Michael Musial and David Baecker, the Theatre Institute at Sage is dedicated to providing quality live theatre and arts-in-education programming to Capital Region youth, educators and residents. The Institute also provides opportunities for Russell Sage students as performers, technicians and teachers.
Programs include educational support services for Sage productions (such as in-class preparations, teacher in-services and study guides), a Saturday theatre arts school, camps during school breaks, and several theatre camps during the summer for children ages 5-18.
Additional Theatre Institute at Sage faculty include Eddie Knight (Education Programs and Internship Coordinator), Jennifer Raineri (Costume Designer & Shop Manager), and Paul Sweet (Technical Director/Scenic Build), Eleah J. Peal (Adjunct Professor & Performing Arts/TIS Administrative Assistant), and Desirée Chapelle (Adjunct Professor, Designated Linklater Instructor). Programs are taught by a combination of Sage staff, students and consultants.
Programs take place on the Russell Sage College campus in Troy, which is home to three performance spaces as well as numerous studios and classrooms.
Announcements and recruitment for the Theatre Institute at Sage will be done through a combination of print media, direct mail, social media and Sage website and publications.
